Two brothers, Kobina Daffour, 22 and Kofi Sasu, 24, both unemployed and resident at Jukwa near Cape Coast, were on Friday fined GH¢500.00 each by the circuit court in Cape Coast for stealing a bottle of ‘Kasapreko Alomo bitters,’ an alcoholic beverage valued at GH¢1.50 from a drinking spot.
The two pleaded guilty and were in addition bonded to be of good behaviour for one year, or in default serve one month imprisonment each.
Chief Inspector Hope Azasoo told the court presided over by Mr Richard Asiedu-Badu that on July 21, Daffour and Sasu went to the bar to buy some local gin.
After they had been served, the shop owner stepped outside and the two took advantage of his absence and stole the drink. He said when the complainant returned to the bar the two brothers had left and he saw that the drink was missing.
Someone gave a tip off that Daffour was hiding in an uncompleted building with the drink. When he was arrested he mentioned his brother as an accomplice.
