Two persons accused of having sex with a 13-year-old mentally-deranged at Mayera near Amasaman have appeared before an Accra Circuit Court.
Charged with two counts of defilement, David Adzeole, a barber and Alexander Amesenya, a labourer, have pleaded not guilty.
The two have been remanded in lawful custody by the court presided over by Mrs Ruby Naa Adjeley Quaison to reappear on March 24.
Prosecuting Detective Inspector, Judith B. Asante, said the complainant, who is the mother of the mentally retarded victim, is a trader living at Mayera, near Amasaman.
She said on February 27, this year, the complainant left the victim in the house and went out.
When the complainant returned about 3:30 pm the same day, she saw Amesenya aged 27, sitting on a stone opposite her house.
The prosecution said Amesenya on seeing the complainant took to his heels. When the complainant reached home and opened her door, she saw Adzeole aged 25, busily having sex with the victim.
She alerted people and Adzeole was apprehended and escorted to the Police Station.
The complainant lodged another complainant indicating that Amesenya also had sex with the victim.
The prosecution said the Police issued a police medical form to the complainant to send the victim to the Hospital for examination and treatment.
On February 28, this year, Amesenya was arrested and detained.
In their respective caution statements, they denied the offence.
