Ali Mustapha, bicycle repairer, 20 and Owusu Nelson, farmer, 22, who concealed 27 parcels of dried leaves in four travelling bags in an Accra bound Mercedes Benz bus from Dzemeni in the Volta Region have been remanded by a circuit court in Tema.
The two whose plea was not taken will re-appear February 28.
Police Inspector Adolphus Otchere, told the court that policemen on duty at the Ashaiman Police Barrier found four travelling bags with 27 parcels of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp on a Benz bus upon inspection on January 20, at about 09:00 hours.
The court presided over by Mr Charles Asiedu heard that Mustapha and Nelson claimed ownership of the bags and the dried leaves after they had been pointed out by the driver to the police.
According to the prosecution, the accused told police interrogators that they intended to sell the dried leaves to football fans in Accra during the CAN 2008.
