Two purchasing clerks working for separate licensed cocoa buying companies (LBCs) in the Western Region, have between them allegedly embezzled a total of GHc122,400.00, meant for the purchase of cocoa from farmers.
The two, Florence Adjei and Washington Paul Nkrumah, have been arrested and put before the Bibiani Circuit Court.
The woman has been engaged by the OLAM Cocoa Buying Company at Sefwi-Juaboso and had been given GHc80,000.00 to purchase 395 bags of cocoa beans for her employers.
She could not supply even a single bag and had been in hiding at Sefwi-Wiawso until her arrest, Police Chief Inspector Lucky Golgomi told the court.
Nkrumah on his part, had collected GHc42,400.00 to buy 200 bags of the crop for Splendid Business Service Limited at Bonsu-Nkwanta, but failed to deliver the supply.
The two denied wrong doing and the court presided over by Mr Baptist Kojo Filson, granted them bail.
Florence was granted GHc100,000.00 bail with one surety to be justified whilst the bail amount of Nkrumah was at GHc50,000.00 also with a surety to be justified.
They would reappear again on April 21.
