The Chief of Amamoma in the Central Region, says any male student of the University of Cape Coast who impregnates any woman in the town will be forced to marry the woman.
According to Nana Yartel III, the new rule will deter the male students from impregnating young ladies in the town.
Nana Yartel said some of the students who live in the community have in the past impregnated young women in the town and abandoned them.
As if that is not enough, Nana Yartel III said these students escape from the town after the acts, leaving the mothers and babies to their fate, a situation he describes as very worrying.
One of the students impregnated a young lady in this town and escaped. When we located him and tried to get him to marry the girl, we found out he was married. The best thing we could do was to get him to take care of the child, Nana Yartel said in Fante.
He also called on young women who have dropped out from school and want to learn a trade but have no financial support to submit their names for support.
He made this known during his 20th-anniversary fund-raising ceremony to construct skills training centre for the people of the town.
