The University of Ghana Corporate Football League has received a major boost with Glico General Insurance providing a GHC 1 million insurance package for the tournament.
The announcement was made during the league’s launch at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.
The 20-week competition features 18 corporate teams, including Stanbic Bank Ghana, Ghana Armed Forces Sports Club, Ghana National Petroleum Corporation, and University of Ghana teams such as the College of Humanities and defending champions Union Ghana.
Glico General’s Managing Director, Andrew Achampong-Kyei, emphasised the company’s commitment to player and fan safety. "Football unites people but comes with risks. Our GHC 1 million insurance package ensures everyone can enjoy the game with confidence," he said.
The sponsorship covers medical protection, injury compensation, and overall safety throughout the tournament, setting a new standard for corporate football sponsorship in Ghana.
Attention now turns to the season opener on Friday, 21 February, where Union Ghana will defend their title against the College of Humanities. Four matches will take place on the day, marking the start of what promises to be an exciting competition.
With Glico General’s backing, the 2025 UG Corporate Football League is set to be safer and more competitive than ever.
