The management of the University of Ghana (UG) has increased tuition fees for the 2020/21 academic year.
The new tuition fee scheduled to take effect in the 2020/21 academic year has been increased by 12.3 per cent in some schools under the university and 12.56 per cent in other schools all under the university's umbrella.
Continuing students in the Sciences will observe a 12.50 per cent increment of the previous amount of GH¢1,688, bringing the new fees to GH¢1,899.
The School of Agriculture is also expected to have its continuing students pay GH¢1971, a 12.56 percent increase from last academic year's GH¢1,751.
Meanwhile, there have been agitations surrounding the increase on whether the proposed 2020/21 fee schedule has been approved by the government in accordance with the Fees and Charges Act 983.
Earlier this month, the management of the Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ) also increased their fees for the 2020/21 academic year by 5 per cent.
