The UK-Ghana Chamber of Commerce (UKGCC), a member-based trade association that promotes trade between the UK and Ghana, has donated GH¢100,000 to support the support the initiatives of the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation.
The Board Chairman of the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation, Nana Professor Oheneba Boachie Adjei-Woahene, informed Otumfuo Osei Tutu II about the donation during the celebration of the Akwasidae, an Ashanti festival held at the Manhyia Palace on Sunday, 15th September 2024.
Leading UKGCC’s delegation, which comprised Executive Director, Adjoba Kyiamah; Executive Council Member, Alice Asafu-Adjaye; Membership Development and Events Manager, Pearl Stan-Deh and Communications Manager, Joscelyne Ahiable.
John Addo Kufour, UKGCC Executive Council Vice Chairman, remarked that “the UKGCC, as part of its corporate social responsibility and in partnership with the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation, had held a Hat & Flower Show to celebrate Ghana’s vibrant culture through floral design and millinery craftsmanship, with a focus on Ashanti culture".

Proceeds from the event which took place on June 22, 2024 amounting to GH¢100,000 has been donated to the Foundation to support their initiatives, particularly, the refurbishment of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital and the Otumfuo’s Education Fund”.
He added that “Our presence at the Manhyia Palace on the auspicious occasion of the Akwasidae seeks not only to facilitate the presentation of the donated funds, but also to present ourselves to the Otumfuo as a leading Chamber of Commerce in Ghana, this being the first time that the UK-Ghana Chamber of Commerce has visited the Manhyia Palace”.
As per custom, the delegation also presented cash and drinks gifts as a token to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and his entourage.

Nana Afua Kobi Prempeh, the Executive Director of the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation had, during the Hat & Flower Show, expressed the Foundation’s excitement to partner the UKGCC to raise much needed funds and collaborate to undertake some of its core development initiatives in furtherance of the Asantehene’s vision of improving the quality of life of Asanteman and Ghana.
She had shared that “Over the years, the Asantehene His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has implemented this vision through his Foundation partnering with like-minded organisations to enhance access to good quality education, real entrepreneurship and employment opportunities, and sustainable health infrastructure”.
UKGCC raised the funds through CHANGO, IT Consortium’s crowdfunding and group contributions platform, and received direct donations from member companies, G4S Security, Vivo Energy Ghana, B5 Plus Group, Contracta Construction Ghana LTD., Golden Exotics LTD., Fidelity Bank Ghana PLC, Consolidated Bank Ghana LTD., and Neon Acres LTD.
The UKGCC’s Hat and Flower Show was sponsored by Labadi Beach Hotel, Turkish Airlines, IT Consortium, Guinness Ghana Breweries PLC, and Standard Chartered Bank Ghana PLC.
