A delegation from the United Nations has paid a courtesy call on the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) James Oppong-Boanuh as well as the Police Management Board on Thursday.
The delegation led by Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Office for West Africa and the Sahel, Dr Mohammed Ibn Chambas visited the Ghana Police to deliberate on the readiness of the service ahead of the 2020 elections.

Dr Ibn Chambas urged the service to uphold its integrity as it has always done and maintain law and order before, during and after the elections, adding that security during elections is very key.
He also commended the IGP on his hardwork and recent tour to various regions to ascertain operational readiness of the Police ahead of the elections.

The IGP on the other hand, assured the delegation of maximum security during the election period.
He said the service will do everything to ensure that peace is maintained in the country before, during and after the general elections.
