The Ga West District Chief Executive, Hon Eric Busby Quartey-Papafio, has expressed worry at the rate at which buildings without permits have sprung up in the area.
According to him about 50 per cent of buildings in the area did not have any building permit.
He said that although his outfit was putting in place measures to forestall these occurrences, they were beset with problems.
Some of these problems include land guards chasing out the district task force team which embarked on inspections.
"We are working round the clock to gradually solve these problems", he stressed.
Commenting on the demolition exercise which started a few months ago to demolish all houses sited in waterways to avert
any further loss of lives and property as a result of heavy
rains, he indicated that there has been a court injunction on the exercise.
Hon Quartey-Papafio was however hopeful that things would take a different turn to enable the district assembly continue the exercise.
He reiterated his warning of prosecuting developers who do not obtain the necessary documentation before building.
"All would-be developers should endeavour to obey the rules and regulations", he added.
