The Ashanti New Town Court in Kumasi on Tuesday fined a 21-year-old unemployed GH¢200 for stealing eight sacks of bathroom slippers.
Adingo Asaana pleaded guilty and will serve 18 months’ imprisonment in hard labour if he fails to pay the fine.
Police Inspector Hanna Achampong, prosecuting, told the court, presided over by Mr S.K Achina, that on January 24 this year at about 1030 hours, Asaana stole the sacks of slippers out of a bunch of 30 sacks packed at Roman Hill, a suburb of Kumasi.
Inspector Achampong said Asaana admitted the offence to the police after the owner of the goods caused his arrest based on an eyewitness alert.Source: GNA
