The Union of Industry, Commerce and Finance Workers (UNICOF) says new revelation by Joy News on the ADB furniture acquisition justifies their demand that the ADB management must step aside.
UNICOF insists this is the way to ensure credible investigations.
ADB MD, Stephen Kpordzi told journalists at a recent media briefing that the bank did not pay for the furniture at its new office building at the Accra Financial Centre.
Justifying the one million cedis monthly rent at the ADB’s new head office, Mr. Kpordzi said the rent included the furniture.
But documents available to Joy News indicate that ADB paid separate amounts for furniture.
Manasseh Azure Awuni who has been following the ADB story reports that a similar questionable expenditure was made for the organization of the recent media briefing.
Reacting to the new development, the Deputy General Secretary of the Union of Industry, Commerce and Finance Workers, John Amegashie said the new information buttresses the call for the entire management to step aside.
"The entire management must step aside while thorough investigations are done into the acquisition of furniture," he said.
Meanwhile the workers say they will go ahead with their planned protests against the management of the company.
The union wrote to the Employment Minister insisting it is unable to rescind its decision to go on the protest.
The workers say their decision is in no way to disrespect government's intervention.
