The High Court in Accra has remanded Benjamin Akyena Brantuo, a final year student of the University of Ghana into police custody.The police believe he is involved with the issue of death threats on the lives of some lecturers of the university after the authorities introduced a new residential policy that provides for first year students only.Brantuo is expected to re-appear in court on the May 11 after making a first appearance on Friday. He has been charged with issuing threats of death on behalf of a group identified as Militant African Youth against neo-colonialism.On April 27, police broke into Mr. Brantuo's room at the Commonwealth Hall and seized his computer.Police say they found incriminating evidence on the computer, which they say was used to write the letters threatening the lives of the Vice Chancellor and some lecturers to pressurize the authorities to revoke the new residential policy that.A former student of the University, Lord Hammah who was also arrested by the police last week in connection with the death threats, has since been granted bail.
