The time is here, the month has come and the grounds are fertile for political parties to roll out their messages, but we the young people of Ghana especially university students will like to send this signal to them that we will not tolerate any empty and unrealistic campaign promises anymore.
Over the years political parties have promised us heaven and earth, silver and gold, better lives but never materialized after we have voted for them. Governments change every now and then yet we are bedeviled by sky rocketing fees, astronomical graduate unemployment, neglect of young people in decision making, inadequate learning facilities and total disrespect for young men.
USAG believes that the search for political power by parties is not to rein our lives into distress but the continuous disappointment by governments is a source of worry which we feel must be questioned now or never. We failed to question how things will be done and we are saying simply, enough is enough and this time we are really watching you closely and we are more than ready to demand answers and reject promises we consider unrealistic and unfeasible.
USAG challenges the various manifesto committees of all political parties here in Ghana to be very realistic about their inputs as they prepare to outdoor their official plans for mother Ghana. No more chaff, beware, for the intellectual community of university students are monitoring.
We condemn IEA for neglecting student representation on the presidential debate committee and say they must not hide behind the truth and parade lies into the system. There must be a student representation on the committee to make it credible enough to endorse by all well meaning Ghanaians. We see no justification by IEA to neglect the youth, we see it as a strategic plan to impose their findings on us. We call for our inclusion now!
USAG however wish all political parties well as they play the mind game. GHANA FIRST!
