There will be a live broadcast of the hearing of the presidential election petition in which the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flag bearer is seeking to overturn the declaration of President John Mahama as winner of the 2012 General elections.A source at the Supreme Court confirmed this to Myjoyonline.com.He said an official statement will be issued to that effect. The decision was taken after a marathon meeting by court officials.The State Broadcaster, GTV, is expected to carry the hearing live.The proposal for televised proceedings of the court case was initially put forward by the Danquah Institute with the petitioners who are seeking to overturn the declaration by the Electoral Commission also making a strong case for the proceedings to be telecast live on TV and on radio.The petitioners argued the live telecast will deepen the transparency of the court sittings.But the judges who considered the proposal as a good idea were reluctant in approving the televised hearing.Nonetheless, the Court has reconsidered its earlier position.A source at the Court told Myjoyonline.com the live broadcast of the proceedings of the election petition has been approved.The following is an official statementLIVE TELEVISION AND RADIO BROADCAST OF PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION PETITION HEARINGThe Hon. Lady Chief Justice, Mrs. Justice Georgina T.
