The Chief Executive Officer of Tobinco, Samuel Tobin has been granted bail by police at the Nima Police Station.

He was arrested and charged for obstructing public officers from carrying out their statutory duties.

The arrest follows recent confrontation between workers of Tobinco and officials of the FDA who attempted to lock warehouses belonging to Tobinco.

The regulator, acting on infomation that Tobinco had imported fake drugs into the country decided to lock the worehouses but workers of Tobinco resisted the action.

The Pharmaceutical giants have been in a tussle with the FDA over reports it imported fake drugs into the country.

Tobinco has vehemently denied the allegation but conceded the G-Sunate plus it imported into the country was yet to be clinically tested on humans and was yet to be registered by the Regulator.

The FDA proceeded to lock Warehouses belonging to Tobinco, an action the pharmaceutical giant believed was a witch-hunt.

The controversy was taken to the Presidency, the Judiciary and Parliament in an attempt to resolve the impasse.

The Chief Executive Officer of FDA Stephen Opuni was only Saturday reasigned to head the COCOBOD. It is not clear if the reappointment had anything to do with the ongoing controversy.

On Monday, the CEO of Tobinco was also arrested and detained.

Joy News' Francisca Kakra Forson who was at the station reported followers and sympathisers of Samuel Tobin had besieged Nima Police Station demanding for the release of the Tobinco boss.

Lawyers of Tobinco were also seen feverishly pleading their case for their client to be granted bail. They suceeded in having Samuel Tobin released  from police custody but  he is expected to return to the station as investigations continue.
