Municipal Chief Executive for Upper Denjyira East has commended Adom FM/TV's anchor, Anokyewaaba Adwoa Serwaa for helping young girls in his municipality combat period poverty.
His commendation follows the donation of sanitary pads by Anokyewaaba's Anoba Foundation.

The Foundation, through an initiative dubbed ‘The Sanitary Project’ solicited funds from benevolent Ghanaians at home and abroad to purchase and distribute sanitary products to young girls in under-served communities in the Central Region.
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Ebenezer Forson Appiah, acknowledged the gesture and said the donation of sanitary pads to these young ladies will go a long way to improve attendance in school during their menstrual periods.

"We're grateful to Anoba Foundation for this gesture to schools in Upper Denkyira East. These sanitary pads distributed to the girls will help them,” he said.
He added that "we all know the issues that come with menstruation and its complications. Sometimes, parents have issues purchasing these pads. Some girls are forced to stay out of school during that time and I know it will impact the girls positively and they'd come to school during the time of the month."

"The education given to the girls will help them open up to their parents and teachers on issues concerning menstrual hygiene."
In all, five schools benefited from the maiden edition of 'The Sanitary Project.'

They are Amissah M.A Basic, Pokukrom M.A Meretweso M.A, Asikuma M.A and Kwameprekrom M.A Schools.
Anoba Foundation intends to replicate 'The Sanitary Project' across the country in the coming months.
