A US-based dentist, Dr. Emmanuel Akwasi Amoah, and his 1987 classmates from the La Anglican Primary and Junior High School in Accra have donated a fully equipped, air-conditioned ICT Laboratory to their alma mater.
This state-of-the-art facility aims to make the teaching and learning of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) more accessible and effective while preparing students for the increasingly digital world.

At the handover ceremony, Dr. Amoah expressed his deep sense of pride and gratitude in being able to give back to the school that shaped his formative years.

"I’m incredibly happy to be here today. When I was a student, I could never have imagined something like this. We didn’t have computers – only a small library with about 20 books, and we often had to walk to Osu Children’s Library for resources.
"But today, we are here to give back to the community and school that nurtured us."

Dr. Amoah explained that the project began two years ago after he returned to Ghana for his father’s funeral and revisited the school. Moved by its condition, he mobilised his former classmates to make a difference.

"We initially planned to donate around 30 computers, but due to space constraints, we had to scale it back. However, this is just the beginning, and we hope to expand the facility as we go along," he added.
The generous donation was not only a gesture of gratitude but also a call to future generations, with Dr. Amoah urging the current students to remember their roots and give back as they advance in life.

"Always remember that this school has played a key role in who you will become. Let this be the start of a tradition where each of you, in time, will contribute to making this school the pride of the La Dadekotopon Municipal Assembly."
He also revealed plans to partner with corporations to complete the school’s infrastructure development.

The Headmistress of the school, Miss Olivia Tetteh, expressed profound gratitude for the alumni’s generosity, promising to ensure the facility is well-maintained and fully utilised.
"We are deeply thankful to our former students for their contribution and dedication to the school. This ICT lab will significantly enhance our students’ digital literacy and computational skills, giving them access to quality education,"

Mrs. Tetteh said. "We pledge to maximise the potential of this facility and ensure that all students benefit equally."
