The family of the late social activist, Ibrahim Mohammed popularly known as Kaaka has appealed to the Chief Imam to assist in the release of the deceased's brother.

Kaaka’s brother, Baba Iddi, has been remanded into Police custody for the past two months over the murder of the activist.

The family says, his arrest is unlawful. They contend that he has no hand in the murder of the late social media activist.

Spokesperson of the late Kaaka’s family, Nafui Mohammed said the absence of the brother has had a toll on the family because he was expected to take care of the bereaved family.

"Our plea to his eminence, Chief Imam is, we want him to intervene, assist us in this matter, this uncalled-for act. We don’t know what is really happening to our brother who has been remanded for three times,” the family made an appeal to the Chief Imam on a visit to his Fadama residence.

He said since the arrest of the brother, the family has been kept in the dark without any updates of the investigation by the Police.

"They came, took our brother for a period of two months now, we actually don’t know what is really happening. Kaaka’s investigation nothing is coming out of it, the family has not been engaged in any way to clarify anything. We are still on the matter but we don’t know," he said.

The Chief Imam responding to the family's appeal said:

“I am also concerned, I am also affected that I have not heard anything from the investigations, I will make my advisory board get involved so we find out exactly where we are in respect in the investigations so that we would find solutions to the problem and also establish justice.”

Meanwhile, the family of slain Ibrahim Mohammed, aka Kaaka Macho, says the manner in which the Ghana Police Service has dealt with the investigations into the death of their relative has only caused them more pain.

They describe the efforts put in place since the death of Kaaka, prior to the Ejura protest as lackadaisical which has dashed any sign of hope in their quest for justice.

“We have avoided saying anything publicly about this whole investigation because we wanted to believe that justice will be done and that the Police will take their time to do their work properly. We never saw that happen,” the family told the National Chief Imam on August 24.
