All is set for the 24th Ghana International Trade Fair this year with the focus on value addition and going global.
The event, which takes place in Tamale in the Northern Region will be held for 11 days from February 27 to March 8, 2020.
It is expected to see over 50 small and medium scale enterprise display their wares as they get exposed to some investment opportunities and loan facilities from Banks.
But how has local businesses performed throughout these years under the International Trade Fair? According to the CEO of the Ghana International Trade Fair, Dr Agnes Adu, much improvement has been recorded.
“I can say on authority that made in Ghana products have seen a massive facelift in the past two to three years of my tenure. We can see exports going up. The branding which we hitherto had issues with has improved massively and these local companies and entrepreneurs are now exporting their products to the international market”.
The 24th Ghana International Trade Fair is expected to bring together investors, buyers and stakeholders to patronize made in Ghana products.
Dr. John Hawkins Asiedu, the Director of Industrial Parts and Special Economic Zones, explained “the trade ministry is very much focused on ensuring that made-in-Ghana goods get the needed boost financially”.
About 600 businesses from Ghana and several other countries, notably Turkey, Spain, Italy, India, Syria, Pakistan, South Africa, Egypt and other neighbouring countries are expected to be engaged in business-related activities.
Furthermore, the fair will help widen investment opportunities, particularly in northern Ghana. Activities lined up for the 24th International Trade Fair will include seminars, durbars and exhibitions.
