Following calls for hospitals and health facilities to be insured against disasters, Vanguard Assurance has introduced the Vanguard Hospital Insurance Policy (VHIP).

The policy is to help protect health facilities against disasters such as floods, explosions, fires, and earthquakes.

This has become necessary after the country lost millions of Ghana cedis to fires that ravaged the Central Medical Stores in Tema, Tamale Medical Stores and the Korle Bu Pharmacy, amongst others.

The VHIP is to cover two liabilities: liability against material damage of equipment or stock of drugs, and liability against professional negligence of doctors who operate the hospitals.

Speaking to Joy Business at the launch, Acting Chief Executive Officer of Vanguard Assurance, Charles Dankyi Ansong said the policy has affordable premiums for interested hospitals.
