Vice President Kwesi Amissah-Arthur has appealed to political parties and their supporters to embark on a campaign of issues and peace ahead of elections in November 2016.
The Vice President made the statement when he joined hundreds of Muslims at the Holy Child School Park in Cape Coast, the Central Region capital, to celebrate the end of Ramadan. He was accompanied by Central Regional Minister, Kweku Ricketts Hagan.
The Vice President called on the youth not to allow themselves to be used by any political party to foment trouble before, during and after the general election.
He said the election was not about war but an opportunity for political parties to sell their messages to the electorates.
He emphasized the need for education and assured them that President John Mahama was eagerly working towards granting their request for a school in the community.
Mr Kwesi Amissah-Arthur cautioned the Muslim youth to celebrate the Eid-ul-Fitr in moderation.
He assured the people of a better organised Hajj this year compared to last year’s.
The Regional Minister also added his voice to the call for moderation.
Kweku Rickets Hagan said the Mahama government is a listening government and is therefore determined to addressing the needs and request of the people.
