Vice President Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur on Saturday promised the people of Cape Coast to ensure more developmental projects in the area to improve the well-being of the ordinary person.He gave the assurance that being an indigene of the town, there was no way he would turn his back on them, but rather do all he could to accelerated development of the area.The Vice-President gave the assurance when he addressed hundreds of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) party faithful, sympathizers and well-wishers at London Bridge in Cape Coast amidst cheers, singing and dancing.Mr. Amissah-Arthur, accompanied by his wife, Matilda, had earlier visited Mankessim, Anomabo and the Oguaamanhen’s Palace before wrapping up at London Bridge to introduce himself to the people as the Vice-Presidential candidate of the NDC Party.Others with him were Mr. Lee Ocran, Minister of Education, Mr. Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, Deputy Minister of Local Government, Mr. Ebo Barton Odro, MP for Cape Coast and Mr. Aquinas Tawiah Quansah, Deputy Central Regional Minister.Present were also Mr. Joseph Annan, Mr. Samuel Adu-Yeboah, Central Regional Chairman of the NDC and Mr. Anthony Egyir Aikins, Mayor of Cape Coast.The Vice President said the only way the party could win a ‘One touch’ victory was for the people to turn up in their numbers on December 7 and vote massively for the NDC.He advised them to do away with backbiting and violence, but rather live in peace and harmony with each other, urging that party executives and members, who had differences should resolve them and work together to ensure victory.He was grateful to them for their support and asked for more of it in addition to prayers for him.Mr. Lee Ocran noted that the NDC Government was committed to raising the standards of schools in rural areas to compete with those in the urban areas.He said the promises being made by other political parties to bring free Senior High School (SHS) education would be irrelevant if there were inadequate infrastructure and facilities in these schools for the students.He called on the public not to pay heed to such promises because technically, the current SHS was free with students paying for only boarding and dining facilities.Mr. Elvis Afriyie Ankrah said the NDC had done a lot since it was voted into power and that the people should give them the second chance to build on the foundation, it had laid.He urged the supporters to play their respective roles efficiently to win votes for the party and also be at peace with one another whilst eschewing any form of violence and acts that would disturb the peace.The Vice-President used the occasion to launch the Region’s ‘Green book’ on the NDC’s better Ghana Agenda, which depicts what the party had done and intends to do for the nation.
