Construction work on government’s Bus Rapid Transit System (BRT)will officially commence today. Vice President John Mahama will cut sod for the construction of special lanes on which the buses will ply. The Ghana Private Road Transport Union which kicked against the project has now agreed to the implementation after its fears of job losses were allayed. Communications Specialist for the project Kojo Antwi is assuring passengers of a convenient and improved public transportation system when the project is completed in eighteen months. He said commuters will be alleviated from the precarious traffic congestion in the city when the project takes off. Source: Joy News/Ghana
