Imagine learning for your BECE in a shed consisting of just tree stumps roofed with thatch. That’s the plight of pupils of the St. Gloria Precious School at Koleodor in the Ada West District of the Greater Accra region.

The school was established by the community for underprivileged children in 2010. With inadequate classroom blocks, pupils in five classes learn under a structure that is as bad as a school under a tree. Classes end anytime heavy winds blow, or when rain falls.

The pupils told Joy news they get so dirty learning in the environment that sometimes, community members question whether they are really students.

“When harmattan blows, we will be dirty. And if some people see us, they say, did we come from the farm? Then we say no. We only need classroom block,” one of the pupils told Joy news’ Joseph Opoku Gakpo who visited the school.
