Alhaji Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, Member of Parliament (MP) for Asawasi, has stated that the recent utterances by some leading members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) suggested that the party was dreading its eventual defeat at the 2012 polls.He noted that the Mills’ Administration had worked tirelessly in the last two years in creating jobs, reducing poverty, crime and drug trafficking, as well as giving hope to Ghanaians of a better nation in the near future.He said Ghanaians were becoming more aware of the commitment of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to alleviate the plight of the citizenry through various pro-poor initiatives and projects and stressed that as such, the party was hoping to win the 2012 elections based on issues and goodwill.Addressing a rally of the party at Aboabo Number Two in Kumasi, Alhaji Mubarak noted that the elections would not be decided through violence as was being speculated by a section of the leadership of the NPP.He stressed the need for well-meaning activists of the party to step up efforts of upholding the principles of the NDC in their activities, saying the leadership should at all times be transparent and accountable to members.They should also explain government policies to people at the grassroots to avoid misinterpretation and misrepresentation of its development agenda by the main opposition party.Alhaji Mubarak advised the youth to avail themselves of opportunities under the National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP) to improve their living conditions and also took time to explain various projects he was undertaking to enhance development in the Constituency.Alhaji Ahmed Abubakar, Asawasi NDC Constituency Chairman, said the executive was working hard at all levels to ensure that the party retains the seat in the 2012 elections.Source:GNA
