Operators of the intercity transport company, VIP Jeoun, have resolved to stay the price increase of transport fares for its buses.
A group known as the Alliance of Drivers Ghana announced a 20 per cent increase in transport fares, effective Monday, March 17, citing rising fuel prices, escalating engine oil costs, and the increasing prices of vehicle spare parts.
VIP Jeoun in response announced new fares to take effect from April. But in a statement issued on Tuesday, March 18, the company said it has suspended the move.
“VIP Jeoun Transport received an urgent communication at the request of the Hon. Minister of Transport
Directors of VIP, having taken notice of the said communication, have resolved to STAY the reported increases,” the statement read.
The transport company reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring fair competition and trading practices.
“VIP Jeoun Transport, a company limited by guarantee, is committed to fair competition and trading practices,” the statement concluded.
