The Volta Regional Coordinating Council (VRCC), under the leadership of Regional Minister James Gunu, has engaged in a strategic dialogue with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC) to explore the establishment of a modern vegetable production farmhouse complex in the Adaklu District.
The proposed initiative forms part of a broader agenda to promote Local Economic Development and strengthen the agribusiness value chain across the Volta Region.

In a statement shared by the Minister, Mr. Gunu expressed optimism about the partnership, describing it as a significant step toward transforming the region’s agricultural sector.
“With agriculture being a backbone of our local economy, this initiative holds great promise for boosting productivity, creating jobs, and improving livelihoods for our people,” he noted.
The high-level meeting brought together a cross-section of technical experts and regional stakeholders, including the Regional Coordinating Director, Regional Development Planning Officer, Regional Budget Analyst, and Regional Directors from key sectors such as Agriculture, Feeder Roads, Ghana Enterprises Agency, AESL, Ghana Statistical Service, and Trade, Industry and Agribusiness.

The envisioned farmhouse complex is expected to serve as a model facility for vegetable production, equipped with modern technology to enhance yield and sustainability while creating opportunities for youth and women in agribusiness.
Mr. Gunu lauded KOICA for its interest in supporting local development and commended the NDPC for facilitating the engagement.
He expressed hope that the collaboration would mark the beginning of transformative interventions that would reposition agriculture as a driver of inclusive economic growth in the region.
“As we look to the future, we remain committed to forging productive partnerships that will advance our development priorities and empower our people,” the Minister said.
The engagement reflects a growing momentum in the Volta Region towards targeted investment in agriculture and agribusiness, with a focus on innovation, infrastructure, and market access.
