Mr Isaac Kodobissah, Ho Municipal Chief Executive, on Friday inaugurated Unique Shepherd (US) FM, the first commercial radio station in the Volta Region.
This brings to four, the number of radio stations operating in Ho, the Volta Regional capital.
Mr Kodobissah commended Chief Godfred Medicine, President of US Group of Companies for the initiative and urged staff and management of the FM Station to uphold high ethical and journalistic standards.
“You simply must not engage in any act of irresponsibility,” he cautioned.
Mr Kodobissah underscored the importance of the media and advised management of the US Group of Companies to consider establishing a television station in the Region.
He called for a healthy collaboration among radio stations in the Ho Municipality to promote good governance, democracy and rapid development of the communities.
In response, Chief Medicine assured that US FM would focus on “key issues devoid of politics.”
“We promise to be objective, accurate and professional and basically educate, inform and entertain and not engage in any act of irresponsibility,” he said.
Mr Victor Kwawukume, Volta Regional Chairman of the Ghana Journalists Association, (GJA) who chaired the function, advised staff of US FM to uphold the virtues of objectivity, balance and fairness
