The Volta Regional Secretariat of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has handed over a refurbished office space to house the Ho Central constituency NPP secretariat.
This was made possible through the instrumentality of former Vice President, Dr. Mahammudu Bawumia, who financed the reroofing of the facility, which previously housed the NPP Volta Regional Secretariat.
The decision to re-allocate the office was a result of the demolition of the permanent Ho Central Constituency office by the Mahama-led government in preparation for the National Farmers Day celebrations in December 2025. The office was situated around the Ho Sports Stadium.
Handing over the office, the Volta Regional NPP Chairman, Makafui Woanyah, lamented the act by the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) to destroy the office of its political opponent, describing it as “retrogressive and a dent” to the country’s democratic dispensation.
“I was shocked to the marrow when I heard of the demolition being undertaken by the government. In this time of our democratic dispensation, a party will come to power and decide to pull down another party’s office. At least, this is a conflict of interest situation, where you have to be circumspect in your activities, in your actions”, he said.

He explained that, he quickly acted on a plea of the Ho Central Constituency NPP Chairman, who requested a secretariat for the party in urgency, to Dr. Bawumia.
Mr. Woanyah added that the NPP Regional Hierarchy, therefore, decided to allocate the old regional secretariat - “which we had promised to reroof”- to the constituency.
“We appealed to His Excellency, the former Vice President, Dr. Bawumia, and before I said jack, he supported us and we have reroofed the entire building. We have done what we are supposed to do in the interim for the Ho Central Elephant to be housed here”, he said.
He, however, underscored the significance of the Ho Central Constituency in the NPP’s campaign in the region, and urged the delegates to do due diligence in shaping the party’s course to power.

He advised them to lead the region to elect a formidable presidential candidate for the 2028 general elections, to warrant victory and a return to power for the NPP.
The Ho Central Constituency NPP Chairman, Frank Ahaze, expressed worry at the demolition incident which “rendered the party homeless", describing it as “a dark day in the life of Ho Central.”
He, however, lauded the swift intervention by Mr. Woanyah and Dr. Bawumia to provide the party with a befitting place to serve as an administration point for the NPP in the constituency.

“We appealed to the Regional Chairman that he should take away this disgrace of Ho Central and get a place for us. He said to me, ‘Chairman, don't worry, we will not be out to shame.’”
“And today, our gathering here is the result of that promise he made. The name ‘Chairman Say and Do’ is an action word”, Mr. Ahaze said to the applause of the gathering.
