President John Mahama has begun a six-day campaign tour of the Volta Region to outline his party's vision and promises to the electorate in the Region for a renewal of his mandate.
Contrary to the threats of demonstration against the president by some residents, Joy News' Volta Region correspondent Ivy Setordzie reports the president was given a hearty welcome by residents.
The Chiefs and people of the Kpando Municipality turned up in their numbers to welcome the president to a region that is described as the 'world bank' of the governing National Democratic Congress.
While in the Volta Region, the president is expected to inaugurate the Kpando Water system which will supply over 1.5 million gallons a day, up from the 130,000 gallons a day it provided in the past to residents.
He is also expected to commission one of the Community Day Senior High Schools at Kwamekrom in the Volta Region later today.
Torgbui Akom VIII Fiaga of Gbefi Traditional area said the presence of the president has lifted the spirit of the people living in the Municipality.
He applauded the president for redeeming his promise to rehabilitate the Kpando Torkor road, stating, his people have "benefitted a lot" under the Mahama government.

He was, however, quick to mention some projects which have stalled under theMahama regime and which he wants completed.
He decried what he says is the failure by the government to work on the many town roads in Torkor.
According to him, the town roads awarded to a contractor had been abandoned for nearly three years with no clear indication when it work will be completed.
He also mentioned the construction of a bridge over river Aplado which he said was advertised over three years ago and nothing has been done about it.
He would wish the president intervened to get the bridge constructed.
On elections 2016, Torgbui Akom VIII, Fiaga said the Kpando Municipality is committed to a peaceful election in December.
"We need a humble and honest leader who will inspire the citizenry and instill in them the values of hard work, discipline, ambition, honesty, altruism, independence, tolerance and above all respect for one another and the love for Ghana," he said.
President John Mahama assured residents of the Volta Region oft his government's commitment and continued support for development projects in the region.
He described as wicked propaganda claims that the NDC has abandoned the Volta Region.
He said by the time the government completes all water project in the Volta Region, it will have higher than the national average of water supply.

He said the Region will have almost 80% water coverage when the projects are completed.
"Sometimes, some people say, no work has been done in the Volta Region, and continue to propel that propaganda. It is not based on facts. I know it is done for political reasons. It is a very wicked lie.
"We have invested heavily in the road, water, health and education sectors," the president said.
His six-day tour will take him to Keta, Abor, and Anloga. He is expected to complete the tour on Saturday.
