The General Secretary of the People’s National Convention, Bernard Mornah has advised Ghanaians to vote for politicians with ideas and not those with money, the source of which they might not know.“Vote for people with ideas not people with big money. Such monies can be cocaine money, blood money,” he said.Bernard Mornah made this call on Metro TV’s “Good Morning Ghana” programme. According to him, politics should not be allowed in the hands of those who have money “otherwise we would be auctioning our democracy”.He said since 1992, “politicians have often come to buy our conscience like tomatoes and after winning the elections, they go and never return until the next election”. Such politicians he said, must be shown the exit door.He also advised the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) to look within and find solutions to their problems and not blame it on others.This came a day after Kofi Adams, spokesperson for ex-President Rawlings expressed similar sentiments. Kofi Adams said “some party members preferred to point accusing fingers at opponents, especially those in the New Patriotic Party (NPP), instead of investigating the root cause of problems that confront the party.” This attitude, he said, if not checked, could complicate the work of party leaders.Another panel member of the programme, Kwabena Bomfeh known in political parlance as “Kabila” said the ruling NDC must take responsibility for their own actions and not blame it on others.In a related development, Kwabena Bomfeh said Osahene Boakye Gyan (Major Rtd.) who defied vehement protests from some members of the governing National Democratic Congress, to win the parliamentary primaries of the Jaman South Constituency of the Brong Ahafo region will disunite the party.According to him, Boakye Gyan, a former ally of ex-President Rawlings (the founder of the NDC) has in the past referred to the NDC as an illegal entity and Rawlings as a coup maker and so it was surprising that the same man will contest a parliamentary seat on the ticket of a party he condemned some years ago.He said though numbers are needed in political parties, “Boakye Gyan’s joining the NDC will negate some of the gains the party has made over the years in terms of numbers”.
