The Minister of Information, Mr John Tia Akologu, has said it is incumbent on the electorate to vote for President John Atta Mills in the next elections to enable him accomplish a second term in office and deliver all promises made to the people.
He said that would then make it fair for us to compare his performance to his predecessors, ex-Presidents Ft Lt J.J Rawlings and J. A. Kufuor who had each served the country for eight years.
Mr Akologu was addressing a large crowd of visitors from the Hohoe municipality and Kpando district and other parts of the Volta Region to commemorate the celebration of World Tourism day at Tafi-Atome in the Hohoe Municipality last Tuesday.
According to him, President Mills had injected some innovation into the governance of the country. He added that the formation of sub-structures of district assemblies and the regional policy fairs were some of them.
He said the Mills government had also made many positive changes in education, agriculture and other sectors, citing that the reduction of the senior high school duration from four to three years had reduced the burden of fees on parents and guardians.
The Minister of Tourism, Ms Akua Sena Dansua, said the nation will go through the next election successfully without any hitch and prayed that all the resources required could be mobilised on time to enable the government deliver on all promises made to the people.
She called for partnership from metropolitan, municipal, district assemblies and traditional authorities to develop tourism so as to ensure increased patronage, revenue and employment creation.
“Tourism promotion is a multi-sectoral venture that needs great support beyond government,” she stressed.
