The voter registration exercise started on a slow pace on Thursday due to interruptions by a downpour in the early hours of the day.
Joy News correspondents say new voters turned up late with some queues seen in some polling centres.
Kwaku Owusu Peprah reported from the Western Region that very few people registered as at 8 o’clock Thursday morning.
He said no registration officers were present to conduct the exercise at two polling stations at Esikado at a time when the exercise was supposed to be underway.
Benjamin Tetteh in the Eastern Region also said patronage improved later in the day.
He said the exercise generally started quite late because electoral materials arrived late according to Electoral Commission officers.
According to him, people in the Ada areas complained of the distance they needed to travel to get to polling centres to be able to register.
Benjamin Tetteh also complained that publicity about the exercise was low.
Reporting from the Central Region, Richard Kojo Nyarko said the exercise did not start in most polling centres as at 11:30 am.
He said while some polling centres had officers available, cameramen were not present delaying the start of the exercise and causing anxiety among residents.
The nation’s capital Accra recorded high turn out resulting in long queues.
