The Volta River Authority says they are in the process of building three solar farms in the Upper West Region.The farms which will be sited in three communities in the region is expected to be completed before the end of the year.
It will help reduce the frequent voltage fluctuations in their operation and also create employment for people.The acting Upper West area manager of the VRA, Smith Dauda Issa made the revelation when the Upper West Regional Minister, Alhaji Amin Amidu Sulemani called on them at their Wa office.According to Joy News' Upper West correspondent, Rafiq Salam, the Regional minister's visit was to acquaint himself with the challenges the VRA was going through.The Minister in his interactions with the VRA officials also complained about the erratic electricity supply to customers.In his response, Mr Smith Issa said the major problems affecting the electricity supply include secondary sub-station injection, sub distribution lines upgrade, distribution networks.He added his outfit is building three solar farms to be stationed in Kaleo, Jirapa and Lawra, adding it will be completed by the end of the year.
