Hiplife group, VVIP is partnering government to create awareness on the importance of the National Sanitation Day and the need to keep our environment clean.
This first National Sanitation Day was observed across the country Saturday November 1, with several well-known personalities including President John Mahama, Vice President Kwasi Amissah-Arthur and Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II taking part.
The sanitation day was instituted by the government to help cultivate the culture of keeping the environment clean. Ghana is still battling a cholera outbreak that has recorded over 10,000 cases with 200 lives lost.
Local Government Minister, Julius Debrah speaking on the Super Morning Show on Joy FM Wednesday, disclosed that VVIP - made up of Reggie Rockstone, Zeal and Prodigal - has sent a proposal to support government with the initiative.
“VVIP, brought a proposal to us saying that they also want to move this campaign from a youthful angle. They will start from the Nima- Maamobi area,” the Minister revealed.
Reggie Rockstone told Myjoyonline.com in an interview that he is excited about the initiative because one of the things he admired about the group which was previously known as 'VIP', was that “they have always been community activists.”
He explained that, “we shall bring more attention to the issue and also entice the people via [other] celebrities to get down [with it]. We will organize shows and host them to bring awareness to this issue and have a general jolly good time whilst cleaning like we do in our homes.”
“Spring cleaning they call it, except this one is heavy ‘borla’ cleaning,” Reggie Rockstone added.
He revealed that they are still putting finishing touches to the initiative and will start as soon as all is set.
