The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has released provisional results of candidates who sat for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) this year.
According to the examination body, “this follows the completion of all post-examination processes.”
Examination results will be dispatched to the various senior high schools, therefore “candidates are advised to contact their heads of school for their results.”
The Council has also hosted the results online for candidates who so desire to access their results on the Council’s website – www.waecgh.org.
They further advised candidates to be wary of fake results websites and the activities of fraudsters who promise to upgrade results for a fee.
“Candidates are to note that all WAEC results are secured and can be authenticated. Institutions are therefore urged to always verify results presented to them to expose incidents of forgery,” the Council added.
Meanwhile, the subject results of 2,383 candidates have been cancelled for engaging in collusion, bringing foreign material to the examination hall and tearing part of their question papers to solicit assistance.
The Council also stated that the entire results of 480 candidates have been cancelled for bringing mobile phones to the examination hall, and the entire results of 384 candidates have been withheld pending the conclusion of investigations into various cases of examination malpractice.
The withheld results may be cancelled or released based on the outcome of the investigations.
“In the meantime, scripts of candidates from 122 schools in certain subjects are undergoing scrutiny,” the Council revealed.
