Producers of bottled and sachet water are being exposed to new technologies and knowledge in water production.
High cost of production and raw materials has been cited among reasons for the recent upward price adjustment of sachet water.
But Managing Director of Jengoff Enterprise, Jeffery Lartey, says local producers can invest in water filtration and purification systems to reduce the cost of production.
“We realized that with the old technologies, you end up buying more inputs for the production of the water. So within a period of time, it becomes so expensive. However when you engage some of these new technologies, it makes you save a lot of money; you actually minimize your operating cost, meanwhile maximizing your profits”, he told Luv Biz Report at a training event for water producers in Kumasi.
Jengoff is partnering General Electric USA to afford local producers access to the new technologies in water production.
Mr. Lartey says the ultimate of the nationwide training programme is to promote best practices in water management to protect consumer health.
Participants are taken through various methods of treating and filtering water into sachet and introduced to other advanced stages in water management so that “when you are able to produce and the water goes to the market and even it stays in the market for even six months, when somebody drinks it, the person will enjoy the water because it will not lose it’s quality within a short period of time”.
