GOIL PLC has rubbished a fraudulent and maliciously fabricated video circulating on social media, falsely depicting its Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director, Edward Abambire Bawa, as announcing a supposed “government-backed gold project” or “customer reward scheme.”
According to the leading oil marketing company, GOIL PLC is not undertaking, and has not undertaken any gold-related venture, government-backed project, or customer reward scheme as alleged in the said video.
As such, the content is fake, deceitful, and clearly generated using artificial intelligence (AI) for fraudulent purposes.
“GOIL condemns in the strongest possible terms this act of digital impersonation, which seeks to exploit the trust and credibility our brand has built over decades. We urge the public to exercise utmost caution and disregard this concocted material entirely”, it said in a statement.
“GOIL views this criminal attempt to defraud and mislead the public as a serious cyber offense. We are collaborating closely with the relevant security and cybercrime authorities to track down and prosecute the perpetrators to the fullest extent of the law”, the statement added.

The statement continued that GOIL remains a responsible and transparent corporate institution committed to ethical business practices and protecting the interests of its valued customers and stakeholders.
“For authentic and verified information on GOIL’s products, services, and corporate announcements, kindly visit our official website www.goil.com.gh or follow our verified social media handles”, it concluded.
