A football analyst, Nana Agyemang says it was unfair for the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to terminate the appointment of Charles Akonnor and his two Assistants from the Black Stars.

According to Mr Agyemang, he holds this position because such a Herculean task - that is the national team qualifying for the African Cup of Nations and securing a slot at the semi-final of the World Cup, was set for CK Akonnor, a man who does not have 10 years coaching experience.

Speaking on PM Express on Monday soon after the announcement, he noted that perhaps these objectives were set in order for the former Black Stars coach to fail.

"I think to a certain extent, we haven't been fair to him. Because it is an issue of time divided by target and although he has been there for a year, what we have done is to give him an extremely tall mountain to climb which is qualify for the Afcons - yes we know we qualify anyway and also to be placed in the semifinals of the World Cup. Those things are very tall for me for him because it is not as if he has been coaching for ten years.

"Perhaps we set him up to fail even," he said.

His comments come after CK Akonnor was relieved of his duties after the receipt of the technical reports from Akonnor and the Black Stars Management Committee, following Ghana’s Group G World Cup qualifying matches against Ethiopia and South Africa.

However, interacting with host, Evans Mensah, Mr Agyemang indicated that an assessment on the last four matches of the Black Stars under the supervision of CK Akonnor have not been the best.

For him, the abysmal performance of the team showed no light at the end of the tunnel.

"It is also about the way we lost the last four games. The way we played, it didn't look like things were going to be better. If you win games and lose against South Africa in the way you lost, you just can't see any light at the end of the tunnel. So these are factors," he explained.

Meanwhile, the Executive Council have formed a three Member Committee made up of Vice President Mark Addo, Upper East Regional Football Association Chairman, Alhaji Salifu Zida and Dr. Randy Abbey.

They are to find a Head Coach and Assistant Coaches for the Black Stars within the next 72 hours.
