Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo, New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential aspirant has said that the party needed to campaign seriously before it could retain power in the 2008 general elections.
He said now that the NPP was going to change its leader, it would be confronted with extra political problems internally, so members, supporters and sympathizers needed absolute vigilance to avoid divisions that could cause them victory.
Nana Akuffo-Addo was addressing about 125 polling station chairpersons of the Ahafo-Ano South constituency of the NPP at Adugyama on Tuesday as part of his campaign tour of the Ashanti Region.
He said a true member of the party, a unifier, a man of capacity and a leader with vision for his people was the candidate they should look for and not the person's ethnic, religious or physical background since that could create divisions and asked them to put Ghana first.
Nana Akuffo-Addo told them to embark on their usual house-to-house campaign in order to claim all the 39 seats in the Ashanti Region.
He mentioned the improvement of the living standards of Ghanaians as the next developmental agenda of the NPP and called for public support to meet it.
