The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana has assured the National Democratic Congress (NDC) that the Provisional Voter's Register (PVR) will be released within two weeks.
This clarification comes after some confusion regarding the timeline, with the EC chairperson emphasising that the PVR could be issued in two weeks or sooner, rather than within a week as previously suggested.
Dr Edward Omane Boamah, the NDC's Director of Elections and IT reminded the EC of its commitment to provide the voter’s register to political parties.
His remarks follow the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting held last Tuesday, during which the EC indicated that the register would be available by today, October 8, 2024.
Dr Boamah underscored the importance of the timely release of the voter’s register for ensuring transparency and fairness in the lead-up to the upcoming 2024 general elections.
He emphasised that having access to the register is crucial for all political parties as they prepare for the polls.
In response, the EC issued a press statement confirming that the PVR will be released in due course, in line with the chairperson's promise.
The Commission says its commitment to a transparent and fair electoral process remains a priority as the election date approaches.
