Ghana international Mohammed Kudus has shared his thoughts on the Black Stars’ 2026 FIFA World Cup group following last Friday’s draw in Washington DC.
The four-time African champions were placed in Group L, where they will face European heavyweights England, 2022 World Cup semifinalists Croatia, and CONCACAF side Panama — a lineup widely considered one of the competition’s most competitive groups.
Kudus, who played a crucial role in Ghana’s qualification campaign, believes the team has already shown its quality by sealing a place at the tournament.
“To qualify for the World Cup alone is a big statement from us, and it shows what we can do,” he said, reflecting on the draw.
The Tottenham Hotspur star added that the challenge ahead excites him and his teammates.
“It’ll be interesting. I’m looking forward to it. We are very much aware of the sides we will be facing. We will definitely be up for it, and we will be ready.”
Ghana will be hoping to make a significant impact at the expanded 48-team World Cup, aiming to reach the knockout stage for the first time since 2010, when they famously advanced to the quarter-finals. The Black Stars are expected to begin their preparations early, with friendlies and training camps planned ahead of the tournament’s kickoff in June 2026.
