The Electoral Commission says it will make up for the time lost at some registration centres where there were reports of delay on Sunday, July 12, 2020.
This was after the third phase of the exercise which began today, was met with alleged activation and network problems.
Many electorates who could not partake in the exercise took to the various social media platforms to express their frustrations and displeasure. They complained of being left stranded.
Member of Parliament for North Tongu Constituency, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa who was monitoring the exercise also took to his Facebook wall to call out the Electoral Commission and its chairperson, Jean Mensa.
Describing the incident as unacceptable, the MP asked the EC to come out with an official explanation.
Acknowledging the situation, the EC said all affected centres should expect an extension in the registration period.
"Some registration centres in the country experienced technical problems as a result of bad network and therefore could not start on the stipulated time of 7.00 am spelt out by the Commission for the commencement of the Exercise.
"Details of the extension for the affected Registration Centres will be communicated in due course," a statement signed by the Acting Director of Public Affairs for the Commission, Sylvia Annoh said.
The commission also appealed to Ghanaians to observe all the safety protocols stipulated at the various registration centres.
