Former Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party [NPP], Peter Mac Manu has warned members of the governing National Democratic Congress [NDC] to ready themselves to face the NPP “boot for boot” in 2012.
According to Mr. Mac Manu, the NPP will not be intimidated by the incumbency status of the NDC stressing “we will not sit and allow the NDC to cheat us out of what rightfully belongs to us. They did that in 2008, and this time around we are saying no, enough is enough. If they are fighting with cutlasses, we will meet them with cutlasses, and if they come with guns, we will meet them with guns”.
He said this on Adom TV’s morning show BADWAM on Multi TV.
The former NPP Chairman was responding to comments he reportedly made to party members in London stating that the party has learnt lessons from the failure on the part of the Police to protect them during the bye-elections in Akwatia, Cherepone and Atiwa adding that party members will thus consider protecting themselves in the upcoming general elections.
According to him, the NDC rigged the 2008 elections and fought their (NPP) men, injuring most of them thus this time round the NPP ‘is ready to resist oppressors rule’.
“We were calm about the 2008 brutalities the NDC meted out to us for the sake of peace. But we have seen it is not worth it. We will fight them in 2012, whichever way they want it served”.
Meanwhile, the NDC’s National Organiser, Yaw Boateng Gyan has dared the NPP to bring it on.
Also speaking via telephone on BADWAM, Mr. Gyan reiterated his party’s commitment to ensuring a peaceful election in 2012, adding that, the NPP will not scare them.
