The Member of Parliament for Abuakwa South constituency, Samuel Atta Akyea says the New Patriotic Party will fish out party members who voted for Alban Bagbin as Speaker of the 8th Parliament.
"The person will be found out and when he is found out, he will be disciplined," he stated.
Speaking to the media, the Abuakwa South MP intimated that loyalty to the New Patriotic Party and its decisions is paramount to the personal opinion of members.
"When I say I am for the New Patriotic Party and the cause of the New Patriotic Party and they take a collective decision, I might disagree but so long as it is a collective decision and that is what the party pleasure lies, he should tow the line," he said.
This act therefore, according to Samuel Atta Akyea, goes against the beliefs and the constitution of the NPP.
His comments follow the election of NDC's Alban Bagbin as Speaker of Parliament on Thursday. He beat the NPP's candidate Prof. Mike Ocquaye by 2 points to secure the position, much to the dismay of the NPP.
Bagbin had 138 votes as against his co-nominee Prof Ocquaye, who garnered 136 votes.
Electing Alan Bagbin as Speaker, according to the NPP MP empowers the opposition National Democratic Congress.
"What you've done is to empower the other people, and if he is so found, I am of the humble opinion that he should be disciplined.
