The Central Regional Director of the Ghana Highway Authority, Nana Boamah, has given the assurance that property demolished or destroyed during the construction of the Mallam-Yamoransa highway would be adequately compensated for.
He assured property owners affected that efforts were being made to pay the second instalment of the compensation.
Nana Boamah in a telephone interview, refuted allegations that the Authority had refused to pay them the second instalment.
"Documents on the remaining compensation had been prepared and forwarded to Accra and we are waiting for funds to effect payment," the Regional Director said and added that, "it is not true that we have decided not to pay the remaining compensation".
Some of the affected property owners complained to the GNA that several attempts since the part payment in 2005 had not yielded any result.
According to them the non-payment of the second instalment was affecting their living since the compensation received was not
sufficient enough to put up a house.
