The Transition Team of President-elect in the December 7 general election, John Mahama has expressed concern over ongoing last-minute recruitments, payments, and administrative actions by the outgoing New Patriotic Party (NPP) government.
This follows an agreement reached during the second meeting of the joint Transition Team on Friday, December 13, 2024, where it was resolved that such actions would require clearance from the joint team.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, December 17, the team accused the outgoing administration of breaching the agreement by continuing with these activities without consulting the Transition Team.
It stated that these actions demonstrate bad faith and undermine the transition process.
The statement further warned that all unauthorised payments, recruitments, transfers, and promotions—some of which have reportedly been backdated—will be reversed once the new government assumes office.
"The Transition Team of the President-elect wishes to state emphatically, that given the bad faith displayed by the government, all these payments, recruitments, transfers and promotions, some of which have been backdated, will be reversed," the statement read.
Additionally, it said public officials involved in these activities could face strict accountability measures.
The Transition Team strongly cautioned public officials against succumbing to pressure from outgoing political actors to participate in such activities, noting that these actions could have severe consequences under the incoming administration.
