The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has assured Ghanaians that it is prepared to conduct a run-off in its Super Delegates Elections scheduled for Saturday, August 26.
According to the party, Article 13 (1.9) of its constitution indicates that there must be first five of the presidential candidates in the exercise, should the delegates fail to elect all five, another election will be conducted for the rest to be elected.
The party’s Director of Elections and Research, Evans Nimako has said.
Mr Nimako thus assured the aspirants that the party’s constitution will be complied with fully.
“It has been agreed that in the event of the conference not being able to produce the first five, there will have to be a re-run and so September 2, 2023, has been slated for a possible run-off date.”
“The letter of our Constitution in Article 13 (1.9) indicates that there must be first five of the presidential candidates and so if it is the first three, then it means there will have to be another election for the two to be elected to add up to five.”
The party will on Saturday, August 26, elect five presidential candidates out of the 10 candidates tomorrow.
The five will later contest for the ultimate flagbearer elections for one to be elected.
