Director of Communications of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has hinted embattled founding member, Dr. Wereko-Brobby could be expelled from the party if he fails to give cogent reason for his actions before the disciplinary committee.Nana Akomea said everyone in the NPP including founding fathers and presidential candidates, are subject to the party’s constitution.Dr. Wereko-Brobby also known as Tarzan has been suspended from the NPP over comments deemed detrimental to the future survival of the party.Tarzan who is against NPP decision to challenge the 2012 presidential election results in court, incurred the wrath of party members when he described the petitioners' star witness Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as "clueless" and hailed the performance of the witness for the respondents .An unrepentant Tarzan has described the action of the party as "unlawful, illogical nonsense and capricious".But on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Monday, Nana Akomea said the suspension 'slapped' on Tarzan is apt.He maintained that recent comments by the party founder has no merit but rather "bring the party into disrupt".Nana Akomea indicated that the national leadership of the NPP has not erred because the decision to suspend Tarzan is enshrined in the party’s constitution.He added that Tarzan’s suspension is based on article 2 of NPP Constitution page eight, which states that a member may be suspended from membership of the party pending an enquiry into his or her conduct by a disciplinary committee.The NPP Communications Director was certain Tarzan received official communication from the party which spells out clearly the reasons for his suspension.He said the National Executive Committee has complied with the provisions of the NPP constitution.Nana Akomea added that Tarzan is supposed to appear before a disciplinary committee of the NPP to defend his case.On the contrary, Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Joseph Ade Coker claimed Tarzan’s suspension is an attempt by the NPP to gag him from airing his views.He said this incident had exposed the NPP, a party which brags as being the epitome of democracy."I salute Wereko-Brobby for speaking the truth. The centre is no more holding in the NPP" he said.Ade Coker urged the NPP to quit vilifying its founding fathers who express dissenting views about its decision to go to court.
